The first session of Sunday School Conference 2023 was held on Saturday, 9th September from 10:30 AM onwards at SWC main hall. Around 50 educators from our congregation and sister parishes attended the meeting. Following the welcome by our Sunday school Headmistress Mrs Anila Philip and presidential address by our vicar Rev. Sunil Raj Philip – Mr Sunil D Kuruvilla took to the stage.
Sunil sir’s erudition and passion matched by his conversational and informal style of addressing the audience ensured the theme sessions were simple yet powerful, thought-provoking and grounded in reality. He discussed essential child development as an integral aspect of the present/future generation and how teachers must recognize and respect the individual in each child and provide emotional, physical and spiritual nourishment required in their childhood, early and late teenage for them to become happy adults and transition ‘gracefully’ into senior citizens. He spotlighted the necessity of personality development in children and stressed the importance of instilling values in life. He narrated through life experience how teachers can become ‘Agents of Transformation’ and ‘Relationship Builders’. It was truly an enlightening and meaningful couple of hours spent in fellowship and a precursor to the upcoming programmes.
