A Day of Gratitude and Joy: Harvest Festival 2025

The CSI Parish, Sharjah, resonated with joy and gratitude on February 9, 2025, as the believers came together for the much-anticipated Harvest Festival. The event, held at the SWC Main Hall, was a resounding success, filled with fellowship, celebration, and a deep sense of thankfulness for God’s abundant blessings.

Remembering the Old Testament tradition of offering the first fruits to God and receiving blessings, the CSI Parish, Sharjah, reverently celebrated the First Fruits Festival on February 9th. The celebration, lasting from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 1,500 believers.

During the spiritually enriching Holy Communion service, Rev. Sunil Raj Philip, the parish vicar, received the basket of first fruits offered by General Convener Biju Thomas Ovanalil at the altar, accompanied by prayers.

The festival was a delightful blend of tradition and contemporary enjoyment. Attendees savored a rich tapestry of traditional Kerala dishes at food stalls, while children and adults alike enjoyed popular games. The event was further enlivened by a musical performance, spot dubbing led by Kalabhavan Hameed, and a comedic performance by Baiju Ashokan, known from Amrita TV’s Super Duper program.

A street play, led by Ashley Mary Biju and performed by 12 artists, conveyed a message of social responsibility and contemporary issues, resonating deeply with the audience through its intensity and novelty.
For the convenience of attendees, a medical camp and a mental health awareness class, led by Dr. Ciji Raveendran, were also organized.
Rev. Sunil Raj Philip, Parish Vicar, along with Festival Committee General Conveners Aby Jacob Thazhikayil and Biju Thomas Ovanalil actively led the festival to its successful completion.

This festival, which seamlessly blended spirituality and social awareness, left a profound impact on the hearts of the believers. The celebration provided new inspiration for the church’s spiritual journey, and the organizers expressed hope that believers would be more prepared to fulfil their social responsibilities in the light of Christian values.
The success of the Harvest Festival was a testament to the dedicated leadership of Rev. Sunil Raj Philip and the tireless efforts of the subcommittee, led by General Conveners Mr. Aby Jacob Thazhikayil and Mr. Biju Thomas Ovanalil. Their meticulous planning and unwavering commitment ensured a smooth and memorable celebration.

The CSI Parish, Sharjah, extends its heartfelt thanks to all who participated in making the Harvest Festival 2025 a truly special occasion. The generous contributions, enthusiastic involvement, and spirit of fellowship exemplified the true meaning of unity among believers and gratitude. As we reflect on the blessings received, we are reminded of God’s abundant grace and the joy of sharing the harvest with fellow believers.
