Girigeetha: Reading Sermon on the Mount in a Post- Truth Era

Bible study series titled “Girigeetha” on 11th May 2025, gathered this week to explore how Scripture speaks to the challenges of living in what many call the “Post-Truth Era.”

Led by Vicar Rev. Sunil Raj Philip, the study invited attendees to consider how salt, used in ancient times to preserve food, symbolizes the Christian’s role in safeguarding moral clarity and truth in a decaying culture. Salt, once essential for preserving meat and fish, symbolizes purity and endurance was cited. Christians are called to preserve right and good, even in a post-truth era where feelings and narratives replace facts and become more powerful points were laid upon. The Bible study concluded by asking for wisdom to live authentically and boldly in an age where truth is often negotiated.
