Sunday School Teachers Retreat 2024 was held as the New Year Begins
The Sunday school teachers’ retreat was held on Sunday, 7th January from 12 PM and led by our vicar Rev Sunil Raj Philip.
Through his session, Achen stressed the significance of referring to God’s word – the Bible – as a teacher’s sole textbook and the primary tool when instructing children. He reiterated the importance of studying the Bible in its totality and not in ‘bits and pieces’. He encouraged the teachers to understand the social, cultural, and political background of biblical narratives and to be aware of the pitfalls of generalising or over-interpretation. Achen commended the inclusive nature of our Sunday school and appreciated the commitment of the teachers. The retreat session was a reminder to renew and reinforce our purpose – to grow in Christ’s love – and an ideal start to the new academic year.
