The spirit of Christian unity was on full display this past week as the Mar Thoma and CSI communities came together to observe Unity Sunday. In a profound gesture of fellowship, the CSI Parish, Sharjah, hosted a Holy Qurbana conducted according to the Mar Thoma liturgy on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
The service, which began at 7:30 AM, underscored the deep ecumenical ties between these sister churches. Rev. Binsu Philip, Vicar of the Mar Thoma Church, Sharjah, served as the chief celebrant for the Holy Communion. The sermon was delivered by Rev. Wilson Varghese, Assistant Vicar, who offered a compelling message centred on the enduring strength of Christian unity.
The service was a powerful testament to shared faith, visually represented by the presence of clergy from both denominations at the altar. Rev. Sunil Raj Philip, Vicar of the host CSI Parish, and Rev. Tom John, Youth Chaplain of the Mar Thoma Parish, joined Rev. Binsu as co-celebrants in the ministry.
Adding to the beauty of the liturgy, the Sharjah Mar Thoma Parish Choir led the congregation in hymns, bridging the traditions through music. The event’s success was widely credited to the diligent planning and coordination of the Mar Thoma Church Committee, ensuring a seamless and blessed experience for the large gathering of believers.
