The Right Rev. Dr. Malayil Sabu Koshy Cherian, Bishop of the CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese, celebrated the Holy Communion service and delivered the CSI Day message at the CSI Parish in Sharjah on the 78th anniversary of the formation of the Church of South India (CSI), a significant event in the history of global Christianity.
After the opening hymn, the Bishop hoisted the flag featuring the logos of the CSI Church and the Madhya Kerala Diocese. During his sermon, the Bishop highlighted that the cross in the CSI logo has four equal arms, symbolising a message of unity and contribution. He also pointed out that the lotus in the logo represents the church’s Indian roots. The parish vicar, Rev. Sunil Raj Philip, along with Rev. Dr. Mathew Varkey, a senior priest from the Madhya Kerala Diocese, and Rev. Saji K. Sam, vicar of the Pannimattom parish, co-officiated the service.
A reception was organised by the CSI Parish in Sharjah, its church committee, and the congregation for the visiting dignitaries, including Bishop Dr. Malayil Sabu Koshy Cherian, Dr. Jessy Sara Koshy Kochamma, Rev. Dr. Mathew Varkey, and Rev. Saji K. Sam, and their wives. Mrs. Nivi Sunil Raj, church committee members Mrs. Mercy Anil and Mrs. Susheela John, Secretary Mr. Liju Philip, and Church Warden Mr. Saiju Mathew welcomed the esteemed guests with bouquets.

The members of the CSI Parish in Sharjah, which is the largest Malayalam CSI Church abroad, considered it a blessing to have the Bishop lead the Holy Communion service and participate in the anniversary celebrations on the CSI Formation Day.
