The second day of VBS 2026 – The Jesus Journey was held on Saturday, 4th July 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Main Hall. The day was filled with worship, Bible learning, interactive activities, and fellowship, helping the children grow in their understanding of Jesus’ life, ministry, and mission.
The programme commenced with the opening prayer led by Mrs. Shino Sunil, followed by a vibrant session of praise and worship. The children joyfully sang songs, participated in action songs, and prepared their hearts for the day’s learning.
The first teaching session, Stop 2 – Galilee: Walking with Jesus – Follow the Way, was based on Matthew 4:19. The session highlighted that Jesus invited ordinary people to follow Him. As we walk with Him, we learn to trust Him, love as He loves, and witness His power and compassion. The children were reminded that they must humble themselves, come to Jesus, and follow Him wholeheartedly. The life of Eric Liddell, the Olympic champion who gave up worldly fame to follow God’s call and serve others, was presented as an inspiring example of faithful discipleship. The children learned that Jesus calls us to walk with Him so that we may become more like Him in our words and actions.
Through Bible teaching, storytelling, and discussions, the children learned that Jesus invites everyone to follow Him, trust Him, and live according to His teachings. They were encouraged to walk daily with Jesus by showing love, kindness, obedience, and faith. This was followed by Activity 2, during which the children reinforced the lesson through age-appropriate games, crafts, and group activities. As part of the activity, each child drew a picture of themselves walking with Jesus in their Journey Passport. The session concluded with the collection of the second stamp in each participant’s Journey Passport.
After the breakout sessions and lunch, the children continued their journey with Stop 3 – Calvary: The Greatest Love on the Cross, based on John 3:16. This session focused on God’s immeasurable love demonstrated through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. The children learned that their sins are forgiven not because of who they are or what they have done, but by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Activity 3 helped the children reflect on the meaning of the cross through creative and interactive learning experiences. Each child drew a heart in their Journey Passport, and the session concluded with the collection of the third stamp.
The final teaching session, Stop 4 – The Empty Tomb: New Life, based on Matthew 28:6, celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The children discovered that Jesus conquered sin and death and is alive forever. They were reminded that death did not have the final victory and that the risen Lord is with us today, inviting each one to give their life to Him and follow Him faithfully. As the final destination of the Jesus Journey, this session emphasized that the resurrection gives every believer hope, victory, and the promise of eternal life. Activity 4 reinforced this joyful message through engaging group activities. Each child drew an empty tomb in their Journey Passport, after which they received the fourth stamp. A commitment card was also distributed, and the children were invited to write a personal commitment to the Lord and place it on the wall.
In the evening, everyone gathered once again in the Main Hall for a joyful session of praise and worship, followed by a lively combined rally, where children from all groups came together to sing, celebrate, and share in the excitement of the day’s journey. After a short snack break, the programme concluded with the closing session, prayer, and announcements.
The second day of VBS successfully deepened the children’s understanding of Jesus’ earthly ministry, His sacrificial death on the cross, and His glorious resurrection. Through worship, Bible lessons, interactive activities, and fellowship, the children were encouraged to continue walking with Jesus, trusting in His grace, and living as His faithful disciples.
